Valarie Tucker began her career at Sprint in 1994. She began as an Account Manager in the Inside Business Sales organization. She received several awards and recognitions during her tenure in the sales organization. Valarie took the experience she gained in the sales organization to the Supply Chain Management organization at Sprint in 1996 where she worked in various capacities. She was promoted to Manager in 2001 and continued in that role until her move to Embarq Corporation in 2006.
While at Embarq, Valarie took on the role of Supplier Diversity Manager and under her leadership, Embarq won the distinct award of Corporation of the Year for their diversity program from the Mid America Minority Business Development Council. Valarie was also nominated as Diversity Coordinator of the year in 2007. She returned to Sprint in 2010 in the role of Sourcing Manager.
Valarie has held several community positions over the years. She has been actively involved in Jr. Achievement, United Way, Susan G. Komen, and the National Black MBA Association in addition to being very active in her local church. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Newhouse Domestic Violence Shelter. Valarie was recognized as one of Kansas City’s Black Achievers in 2003 by the Southern Christian Leadership Council for her work in the community.
Valarie holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
